From the bible we learn that God is merciful, ever loving and ever forgiving. In the saints life, we witness the lives filled and lived by the mercy of God. In old testament days people turned to God when in distress. They acknowledged the distress among them, whenever it existed and they searched for God's forgiveness, whenever they were admonished by the prophets. We can see these penitential prayers and repentance of the communities in many description of the events in the bible. Whenever people turned to God, God was faithful and merciful in protecting and saving them. The key is praying for God's mercy, as an individual, as families and communities. God's mercy is the answer to the restlessness, listlessness, and the conflicts in the world today. Praying for the mercy of God to the world is an everyday responsibility of the believers, who could by their prayers do the charity of interceding for the peace, by the mercy of God.
Looking around us and the world, we know the world has changed in multiple dimensions to the good and worse in our life time in front of our eyes . The enslavement of human mind and heart has gone very far to the level of selfishness, arrogance, conflict mindedness, skepticism and schisms, divisions, and dominance etc., by which human passion, compassion and even the very image and dignity of humanity is blurred in our midst.
We have become smart, technology assisted, explorers, inventionalists, interventionalists, innovators, and nothing is impossible for human mind these days, but we lack the essence of love and humanity for the most part. Love and humanity are the very powerhouse and source of human life, which are diminishing day by day among us everywhere. Without them the families, communities, nations, and the world are filled with empty shells of loveless humans robots. The place for humanity is vanishing everywhere in business, relations, associations, organizations, in houses, streets, roads, and in all the walk and ways of human life. This has been the case, the place for God in human mind, heart and actions is very scarce. Human trust and human charisma are rare these days. The social context and the beauty of humanity is day by day shrinking driving people to live lonesome lives. "Trust no one" situation is lethal to the very purpose of humanity to the world. The very human nature is questionable in our times. The rescue of humanity's identity, image, purpose is very urgent.
This being the current portray of the media and the public perceptions on human life, which may be true for majority of the part, there is hope to every situation, which is mercy of God. That hope is realized by the believers in His name by their prayers in the natural realms. The prayers of the faithful is the sign of hope, charity, love, and peace in the world. The faithful who can commit to pray for the mercy of God is a valuable and powerful resource for interceding. God is same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His mercy is eternal. Prayers for God's mercy is very essential in our times more than ever. There is more urgency for prayers.
