Few prayerful people can intercede for multitudes in God's mercy. As a mighty river is formed by the unity of many streams, streams of individual prayers have power to bring greater good for the humanity in times in which they live. Prayers of mercy in union with the atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ becomes an offering at the altar of God. In our Secular Franciscan order, Joan of Arc Fraternity,  I am blessed to know and associate with many prayerful people who pray selflessly. Among them, Ms.Nancy Adair has a formula for intercession prayer and she shared with me her prayer habit many years ago. She has a habit of praying Our Lords prayer, whenever she is free during the day and she offers them to Our Lord and ask Him to use the benefit and blessings of that prayer to whomever and where ever His mercy is needed. Let us pray for the mercy of God for families, communities, and the world From the bible we learn that God is merciful, ever loving and ever forgiving. In the saints life, we witness the lives filled and lived by the mercy of God. In old testament days people turned to God when in distress. They acknowledged the distress among them, whenever it existed and they searched for God's forgiveness, whenever they were admonished by the prophets. We can see these penitential prayers and repentance of the communities in many description of the events in the bible. Whenever people turned to God, God was faithful and merciful in protecting and saving them. The key is praying for God's mercy, as an individual, as families and communities. KOLKATA:   West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today left for Italy on a week-long visit to Rome and Germany to attend Mother Teresa's canonisation ceremony and meet potential investors. A 12-member official delegation and a group of industrialists are accompanying her. She left Kolkata on an Emirates flight in the morning today. "At the invitation of Missionaries of Charity, I am leaving for the holy Vatican City to participate in the canonisation ceremony of Mother Teresa. Mother was the mother of humanity.
