Mother Angelica and St. Antony of Padua

Image
Many catholic saints share the devotion of Infant Jesus. All of them were eloquent in speech and spreading Gospel with courage. St. Antony of Padua was a fearless preacher, he was a Franciscan priest. He had visions of  Infant Jesus. He was also very dedicated to the devotion of Infant Jesus. Mother Angelica share common traits with St. Antony of Padua. She was also Franciscan. She was courageous and eloquent in spreading the good news, as St. Antony. She also had deep devotion to Infant Jesus.

Mother Angelica and St. Teresa of Avila

Image
Ever since I heard the death of Mother Angelica, one name constantly rings in my head is St. Teresa of Avila. I didn't know any similarity or connection between them. After a persistent, frequent, many reminders in my mind on Avila Teresa, I read a brief story about her to see was there any similarity between mother Angelica and St. Avila Teresa. To investigate why her name comes to the mind frequently?  To my surprise and joyful discovery, yes there many similarities between them, which I will let the theologian and spiritual scholars analyze or discover them. But I would like to highlight a striking similarity between them, which was Infant Jesus devotion. They both were devoted to Infant Jesus. Here I place a paragraph from St. Avila Teresa story, which indicates the above similarity. Mother Angelica carried a small Infant Jesus statue in her pocket always. We know how much she was dedicated to Infant Jesus. Her dedication to Infant Jesus is founded upon the contemplation

Mother Angelica: A model of faith for our times

Image
We who live now are given more than any centuries ahead of us. We are also accountable and will be asked for more fruits from our lives, as we are blessed by many holy saints during our life time. If  I may summarize the life model of three great holy saints lived among us in our time, they were defenders of faith, church, and life. I also believe God places holy people in times of history preceding or during the times's needs, which we have no knowledge of. Mother Angelica's model of contemplation and prayer based faith model is the medicine for current and future humanism and terrorism infested world. St. Pope John Paul II who was the fearless leader, defender of faith, and family, who showed us the model for defending human dignity, freedom, faith, virtues, love, and hope in the world. His model of faith encompasses divine mystical lead, heavenly providence, courageous human charity actions moved by God. His life and services were defending model of Jesus's two great

Mother Angelica: A child of Heavenly Father

Image
Mother Angelica  inherited and portrayed  a childlike heart imitating her king, the Infant Jesus.  She was strong, courageous, authentic, who stood as a solid testament to the love of God and Love of her Mother Church ( Mother Catholic Church). She reflected a simple child's disposition in her obedience to her heavenly king. She had a special personal conviction, love, dedication, and relationship with her heavenly king, the Infant Jesus. Her humor filled talk shows are excellent examples where we can witness her child like heart, faith, love. As I write this I reflect upon Jesus teaching about the importance of having childlike heart, to whom the heaven belong. Mother Angelica was a child of God.

Mother Angelica: A giant of catholic faith lived among us in our time

Image
Mother Angelica: A giant of catholic  faith lived among us in our time. It is so amazing to realize that we live in a time, where and when Mother lived. We shared the same air and earth that her holy presence shared as well. Her holiness is very vivid in her joy, faith, love, hope. Her common sense based practical evangelization method has esteem sophistication yet very simple to the here and now moment applicability. Her way of breaking down the word of God is unique, simple and yet it is deep theology and church teaching founded.  Her teachings are some of the testaments to the gifts of the Holy Spirit radiated or reflected through her personal and public faith life. She demonstrated the gifts and the fruits of Holy Spirit in her life.

Mother Angelica: Single dedicated woman's holiness can change the world

Image
Mother Angelica had a deeper understanding of the love of Heavenly Father for her. She had a strong conviction on glorifying the majesty and awesomeness of God through her service. She had charisma qualities of  Maria and Martha in her. She reflected the wisdom, joy, and radiance of God's love through her life. She loved the beauty, glory, and the majesty of God. As a religious woman, she had dedicated her feminine strength, gifts, talents to love the eternal Heavenly king. When multitudes of women in her time, including religious women were trying to redefine or reclaim or come out with revolutionary feminine ideas and roles, Mother Angelica chose to stay faithful to her eternal Bridegroom Jesus Christ, by remaining traditional and yet revolutionized the whole world through her evangelization. Looking back, she is far beyond any feminine revolutionaries of her time in her accomplishments as a woman who is a bride of Jesus Christ. In my understanding, her life is a testament t

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." Gospel of Luke 23:34

Forgiveness is a great virtue and it is a gift from God. When we think of forgiving oneself and others, we turn towards God, who is the source of all love and all forgiveness. Forgiveness begins from prayer. The soul which is in tuned with prayers and penance gets the strength to forgive. Giving forgiveness to somebody begins with asking God to forgive them. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the model of forgiveness. Let us reflect upon how he forgave us at the cross. He asked the father to forgive us. He prayed to the Father at the height of His agony in the midst of infliction, He prayed for the people who caused His sufferings. I remember His teaching to His disciples, when he was teaching at the shores of Galilee some time ago, not to take revenge on people who persecute but to pray for them. Now He portrayed the model of forgiveness at the cross. First He prayed to the Father to forgive the people, which will be applicable to us and all generations to come. Next, He advocated for the pe

Forgiveness begins from the forgiveness of oneself. In every forgiving situation the forgiving of oneself is an essential part of the equation and has role in the problem as well. To clap it takes two hands so does any relationship begins from the person and extends to other or vice versa. Acknowledging oneself as a part of the problem takes great deal of humility  which is a gift of the Holy Spirit, which comes with discernment and divine wisdom. Acknowledging and picturing self as a part of the problem will lead to the desire to play role in the solutions of mending actions. There is a big difference between discernment and acknowledging self comparing with self pity or self neglect or self blame. It is not a self blame but the discernment process of forgiveness. It is not self pity rather it is self realization. It is not self neglect rather self awareness. This is a gift which accomplishes major portion of the forgiveness, that comes from the Soul, which is in tune with Holy Spi

In fallen nature of human, forgiveness is beyond the limits of human love. Forgiveness requires divine strength and guidance. Forgiveness is a process which begins with the knowledge the knowledge of God. During turmoils, during sufferings, during confusions, it is easy and human nature to be focused on the situation and become the repetitive victim to the problem. It is easy to set the eyes on the problem than focusing on god during trials. It is human nature to try to solve the problems in human will and ways. In this process, human soul vanishes all the juice remain with human will and remain empty and clueless in the absence of God's strength. So knowledge of God in the midst of problems begins the healing process. However, crucial the problem demands solution, how ever the nature of urgency of the demand, however crucial it may appear, however gruesome it may inflict, the solution with out God's presence will lead to the betrayal of God and the willful abandonment of God

There is no magic fix for the hurts that demand forgiveness and the sufferings which come from it not instantly  removable, sometimes it linger like a chronic disease. Hurts and sufferings may present themselves in many ways, many shapes, many dimensions, and multifaceted. Some of the hurts and sufferings in this life are invited and inflicted upon oneself by one's own decisions and actions and some are uninvited which come from the environment of one's life, others may come from spiritual warfare, and others may come from divine plan as well. Some are internal and some are external. Some are forgettable with no effort and some are not. Most of the times it involves the human relationships and majority of the times the hurts which affect us the most are afflicted by those who we love and care, which require greater forgiveness in day today basis. Where there is love there is hurt. For some reason love and hurt are inseparable  The more the love the greater the forgiveness req

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." Gospel of Luke 23:34 There are many hurts in this world, which may demand forgiveness beyond human comprehension, understanding, rationalization, and ability. Only by God's mercy and love, one can give the charity of forgiveness. Forgiveness is a charity and it flows from the mercy of God, as it demands the strength, which comes from the fellowship of Holy Spirit. Forgiveness is a medicine which heals the wounded heart from which it originates and deliver the person who receives it. Forgiveness liberates the souls on both sides. However, many times, or  mostly all the times it is not humanly possible to forgive, but just to lift hands towards heaven with complete trust in God. Hoarding of un - forgiveness erodes the offended or victim soul more than the offender. It is a burden to carry all along the one's perspectives of life. It translates in every aspect of one's life with its sinful nature of

Mother Teresa of Calcutta: Powerful saying

Image
The above quote stands as a testament of Mother Teresa' s faith, life, and love for Jesus and people. It is a profound understanding of mother Teresa of her life, call, and vocation. We can almost witness the wholesome participation of her soul in her earthly life, in pains, sufferings, and in joy of the Gospel.
