God's mercy: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

In the mount sermon Jesus teaches us that those who give will receive more, which can be applied to gift of mercy as well. Here he equates the measure of mercy given to the measure of mercy shown by an individual to others. Further he indicates that whoever show mercy to others will receive mercy from God. It is a promise from God Himself. So the merciful will receive mercy from God. The first step in understanding God's mercy in one's life is to find all those who need one's mercy in life situation and show them the mercy required. Every act of mercy shown is credited in heaven as the return of God's mercy to oneself. Although mercy cannot be contained in one formula or one idea or definitive definitions, it is a glimpse of understanding of God's mercy taught by Our Lord Jesus Christ to the human understanding. Human works with motivations. Therefore, being merciful is to receive mercy is a win win situation for anybody, as we all need God's mercy all the ti

God's mercy: Receiving the mercy is meant to be given to others

Mercy is a virtue and action. It is a gift meant to be given. God's mercy is immeasurable and it could not be contained within our understandings. Heavenly mercy may appear logic and other times may not fit to the logical ideas. It may appear reasonable in sometimes and other times it may be beyond reasoning. It may be amenable for human understanding sometimes and others time it may not be amenable for human understanding. Mercy may be definable in human definitions sometimes but other times it may not be containable to any definitions and parameters. But all the times mercy originates from God and finds the way into the world through human actions and reactions. It is heavenly providence available always for those who seek and for those who may not seek.  We can understand some definitions and parameters of mercy through Jesus teachings. While mercy is a gift given from heaven, the measure of mercy given is based on the mercy shown by an individual to others. Mercy is given mo

Mercy: Receiving Mercy to reflect mercy

The source of mercy is heavenly Father. By asking for mercy we receive mercy. All of us live by the mercy of God everyday. The very breath we take, every heart beat by we live, every day of our life come from the mercy of God. No one is exempted from the mercy of God. Irrespective of race, ethnicity, beliefs, values, or any designation we may assign for human, no one is above the law of mercy of God. No one could live without His mercy. The mercy of God surpasses all understandings, ideologies, creed, and any dispositions of human and nature in surrounding the creation. Mercy of God is like air all around us all the time. However, one lives by taking oxygen from the air by the action of breathing. Similar ideology can be applied to the human effort in seeking God for His mercy. Although oxygen is present all the time everywhere on earth, human action of breathing makes it possible to use the oxygen for life. Prayer can be equated to the action of breathing. Like while breathing the

Being Merciful: Is a human identity and divine virtue: Source of mercy?

Psalm 13:5, 6 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me . Human identity is being merciful by the nature of creation, as human is created in likeness and image of God. While that being the idea, is mercy has limitation? or it is limitless? If it has limitations, how it can be replenished? What is the source of mercy? Human mercy has limitation, while God's mercy is limitless. Human mercy may fail in the face of trials and temptations, so it has its weaknesses and limitations. Human temperaments, personality, and inherent qualities varies widely, so does the capacity to reflect mercy. This being the nature and common observation on human dispositions, how a human may access a limitless source of mercy? God is the source and author of mercy. His mercy is limitless and ever flowing like a river. How a human may access the mercy from God? It is logic to think that a constant ass

Mercy of God: Is it human to be merciful?

Mercy is it a human attribute? Is it humanly possible to be merciful? From Jesus sayings and teachings, the answer is yes, mercy is a human attribute and it is humanly possible. Human is capable of showing mercy to others and human has the inherited qualities of mercy from the Heavenly Father. Jesus, the Lord our savior not just taught us to be merciful but also He stood as a testament to the mercy of God. Jesus also gave us the standard to be merciful when he stated, "Be merciful, just as [also] your Father is merciful." Luke 6/36 .The standard of mercy is the mercy of our Heavenly Father. Human is created in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, human have inherited qualities of Father, from where the good qualities of human take root. Mercy is a gift of God and it is a quality of God. When  human show mercy, that person is reflecting the mercy of God, which is  a reflection of divine action in obedience to the Father. When Jesus asked us to be merciful, He did not

How to be merciful?

Luke 6/27-36 “But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, s 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. t 29 To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. u 32 For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. 34 If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit [is] that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. v 35 But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he him
