Auspicious day it was; When I heard the joyful news; Heavenly joyful day it was; When I learned the heavenly event; Dedication of St. Louis Catholic Church; Rededication in heavenly joy; I went into Lord’s house; In thankful heart of praise; How would I describe the glory of that day? How would I depict the majesty of that delight? How would I relate the mystery of heavenly bliss? How would I write the picture of the heavenly altar? I would join the chant from the shepherd of Memphis Dioceses; I would join the faithful of St. Louis Catholic Church; In synchrony of one voice – and I declare God is good All the time! All the Time, God is good! This place is nothing but The gateway to Heaven! Gateway to heaven? Divine Mercy Miracles: Jesus Calms the Sea and Wind

Scripture: Matthew 8:23-27 23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, "Save, Lord; we are perishing." 26 And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?" Where there is doubt, faith Peace is the divine intervention; Discerning peace through trust in God in family life Mark 4/35-41 Luke 8/22-25 Reflections Jesus calls “Let Us Go” The gospel readings reflect the miracle of Jesus where he calms the deadly storm in the lake during the travel with his disciples. Let us reflect upon the lake and the boat. It was evening when there was gentle breeze on the lake. Evening Sunrays spread golden

Miracles: Divine Mercy of Jesus

When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. 16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”[ Miracles are every day events in human life, whether we perceive are not. Our life and breath are miracles. The love and relationships with which we are surrounded by are miracles. Every day successes and failures are miracles, as both have purpose in our life. Responsibilities and the vested trusts on us are miracles. We can go on and on listing the miracles. Miracles are ordinary events in the faithful life, they are some of the visible testaments of God's loving presence in our life. Miracles are common in these days as they were in those da

Divine Mercy in Miracles

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” 7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” 8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 Then Jesus said to the centurio

Divine Mercy: Resurrected Lord's Miracles: Here and now

1 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy[a] came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” Mathew 8 when I reflect upon divine mercy, I ponder upon the miracles of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which he performed during His earthly life as human. The mercy of God was exhibited in all the miracles and His divine charism transcended through His human compassion of kindness. If we examine all the miracles, we will come to know they are the testimonies of mercy of Son of God,in Him, through Him, with Him, the Holy Trinity Divine Mercy touched the human life. Where ever He went He brought healing, deliverance, and peace to

Divine Mercy Sunday

Image
Tomorrow is Divine Mercy Sunday. Here in Memphis at USA Divine Mercy celebration is done with great veneration. Particularly, in our parish OLPH Church, at German town we have a special novena of Divine mercy tomorrow and it is scheduled to be celebrated by Rev. Fr.Smith this year.I along with our parishioners looking forward to this prayerful event. I was introduced to the prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the veneration of Sacred Heart of Jesus image by my parents during my childhood, as we had a huge Alliance of Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart of Mary picture at the center of my parents house. When I got married, me and my husband enthroned Sacred Heart of Jesus picture in our house which was blessed by the parish priest.Today my husband is a devotee to the prayers to Sacred Heart of Jesus. He goes to the Shrine of Sacred Heart of Jesus at Egmore every Friday. When he had to undergo a major heart surgery 8 years ago I have done series of Sacred heart novenas and series of D

Pope John Paul II on Divine Mercy

Pope John Paul II's Homily On the first universal celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, 2001. Divine Mercy: The Easter Gift "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one; I died, and behold I am alive for evermore" (Rev 1:17-18). We heard these comforting words in the Second Reading taken from the Book of Revelation. They invite us to turn our gaze to Christ, to experience His reassuring presence. To each person, whatever his condition, even if it were the most complicated and dramatic, the Risen One repeats: "Fear not!; I died on the Cross but now I am alive for evermore"; "I am the first and the last, and the living one." "The first," that is, the source of every being and the first-fruits of the new creation; "the last," the definitive end of history; "the living one," the inexhaustible source of life that triumphed over death forever. In the Messiah, crucified and risen, we recognize the features of the Lam

Eternal Father, I offer you the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ

APOSTOLIC PENITENTIARY DECREE Indulgences attached to devotions in honor of Divine Mercy "O God, your mercy knows no bounds and the treasure of your goodness is infinite..." (Prayer after the "Te Deum" Hymn) and "O God, you reveal your almighty power above all by showing mercy and forgiveness..." (Prayer for the 26th Sunday of Ordinary Time), in these prayers Holy Mother Church humbly and faithfully sings of Divine Mercy. Indeed, God's great patience with the human race in general and with each individual person shines out in a special way when sins and moral failures are forgiven by Almighty God Himself and the guilty are readmitted in a fatherlike way to his friendship, which they deservedly lost. Duty of honouring Divine Mercy The faithful with deep spiritual affection are drawn to commemorate the mysteries of divine pardon and to celebrate them devoutly. They clearly understand the supreme benefit, indeed the duty, that the People of God have to
