Preaching of repentance is a pastoral care: From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Preaching of repentance is pastoral care. Calling for repentance is the good news. Repentance follows forgiveness, peace, and the grace to resist sin. 

The heart of evangelization is the good news of salvation, which includes five major concepts, including: God created human with love,  human disobeyed and sinned ( by this we all are sinners), sin separated human from the loving relationship of God, Jesus the son of God became man to redeem us through His death and resurrection in obedience to the Father, repentance and a resolution of turning away from sin brings forgiveness to the human and peace in life.

Sin is real and it has hidden cruelty and destruction in its  seductive or enticing approach. Many a times it appears very logical, genuine, and practical in nature. Very many times it may present itself with parcel and packages of societal norms and standards. Few times it may even appear as a legal thing to do. However, sin is a sin in any forms it may present itself.

The consolation is we all are sinners and no one on earth has immunity to sin. The good news is God forgives all of us and he can wipe away any sin as white as snow, especially those who repent receive grace. Sacrament of reconciliation not only is a physical means to receive forgiveness but also it provides grace of sanctification and leads to sanctity. God provides grace to the repentant heart which equips human with strength and courage to withstand the sin and sinful situations. For some the grace brings freedom from the sinful struggle instantly, for some others it may be a gradual process, and few others it may be life long process, depending upon the readiness and response of the repentant heart. In all situations there is freedom available and possible from all sin. It is not by human strength, not by will power, but by the repentant heart and by the grace of God.

God never rejects a repentant and contrite heart. God helps those who are willing to be helped. He also preserve His people from many grave sins, when they seek help and other times by His pure mercy. The beginning of repentance comes from hearing of Good news and God's words and commandments. Evangelization  function of the church plays major role in proclaiming good news, which will lead God's people to repent and return to God. Hearing brings knowledge and conviction, which would help to discern right and wrong  in individuals' life. 

We live in a time in which there is a greater need for repentance more than it was for the time in NIniveh, time in Sodom Gomerah, and many biblical times, which brought forth wrath of God. However, it is sad that there is very little talked about sin and its reality in our time. In many places sin is no more acknowledged as sin or treated as sin. In few places, sin is glorified and upheld as a practice, standard, right or even legal. It is a false ideal or status. It is the status of slavery to the father of lies of all times. 

There is a huge need in our times for announcing the call of repentance from sin. There is an urgency to proclaim the good news with more fervor and with more clarity in cautioning people against sin and its ways of destruction. Confusion does not exist in Holy Spirit presence. The good news brings peace not confusion among people. Being confused is human nature, however sometimes existence and prevalence of confusion, anxieties, and uncertainties among the souls, those who are in tune with the truth of the Holy Spirit, may indicate some of the signs that Holy Spirit's work, who stirs the hearts of His people and infuse burden in people soul to stand courageously to defend faith and His people from something, which may do greater harm to the humanity. The above status is a rare occurrence. Other times, in general, confusion is not a good news. We need clarity in announcement of good news adhering to Christ teachings and Church traditions and standards not giving perception of conforming to the standards of the time and society. Faith is eternal which cannot be altered by the temporal changes of the society or time. Church is not just an institution it is a mystical body of Jesus, which carries out Christ's mission of saving people.  

Innocent people and generation of our time are becoming slaves to the sins with no conscience discernment. Our generation is bought into the " everything is Ok" mentality of relativism. Relativism has its own place and use, sadly it has no place in moral values or in defining sins. It is time to stop and think about the moral environment we leave behind for our younger generation. We will be hold accountable for the talents, knowledge, and responsibilities we are vested upon in our own small environment, we are called to make difference. 

Sins which are proclaimed to protect so called individual rights, in reality, they in fact rob the individual dignity, identity,  quality life, and the right to live full potentials of their call in this world through robing of individuals soul. Human cannot function as human without the identity of soul, which always seek God. Soul is only satisfied with God's friendship, and it seeks always good things of God.

Let us begin to evangelize joining our Mother Church's mission in this world. Let us begin to repent. Even few people repentance and prayers have power to move God's heart. Repentance acknowledges and invitation to the power of the Holy Spirit action in individual life, environment, and in the community.  Repentant heart will see and taste the work of God in their life situations.
