Women's spiritual morning in Memphis: A begining of Spiritual warfare in Memphis : God is Good All the time!
Women spirituality got a faith lift today in Memphis. When Bishop Steib said, "God's presence is here, God's power is here, it is in this atmosphere, He is here", the air of Memphis resonated presence of God among six hundred to seven hundred women present in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church today. Memphis sky was pouring down showers, cold chill wind penetrated the air, still multitude of women gathered in the church. Poplar road and all the junctions to lead poplar German town road was busy with the spiritual traffic on Saturday, was a rare scene. In the background of spring retuning birds songs, mingled with the sweet church bells rhymes, women became busy rushing to church, leaving behind all their Saturday chores. While women start their first spiritual morning, caring Fishers of Men gathered in the chapel in supportive prayer. What a testimony of faith and what a testimony to the church family and their faith. It was indeed a spiritual morning for women and spiritual uplifting for more than 600 families in Memphis. This day is a special day for women in Memphis, particularly Catholic women in Memphis. This is a bright beginning for the spirituality of Memphis and to the Catholic church in Memphis. The launch of this beginning came in the august day of first Saturday, which is the devotional day of Mary the mother of God, and in the first weekend of the month of March, which is the devotional month of St. Joseph, who is the head of Holy Family. Mary and Joseph were the foundation of Holy family, here today when Marys of the Memphis household were praying and the Josephs of the household were looking after the house chores and some of them supported them in prayers as well. What a holy symbol of faith among Memphis catholic church and catholic families! What a fitting day and season for the event of first women spiritual morning!
The presence of God, asking, seeking, knocking through Novenas and prayers were the repeated themes resonated through out the morning. Rev. Bishop Homily was heart touching for many women and his rhyme filled poetical sermon captured all the women attention. Caring presence of twenty five priests to hear confession was a heavenly experience.
Spiritual talk reflecting Sacred heart Novena was highly meaningful and motivating. Meeting women from various parishes all over Memphis during breakfast was refreshing experience. The hunger and thirst for seeking God's presence was vivid in every face I met.
Totally, Memphis is bright in the faith chart, where men and women support each other and uplift each other in faith. Heavenly Father's presence and blessing was palpable in the air. This is a beginning of spiritual warfare in Memphis. It may lead to chain of intercessory prayers following liberation of families, and youth from the evil tactics. It is a dawn of faith in Memphis. It is a powerful awakening of women, when a women is in faith the whole generation of the family line and generations to come get blessed. Women who can recite a rosary is a powerful weapon against evil tactics. One cannot simply underestimate the power of woman prayer. Jesus in His earthly life time, He always heard the prayers from the women, no woman came to Him for healing turned away empty. Woman's prayer is powerful, and woman's faith is essential for the unity, peace, and blessings in the family and in the community.
The sin came in to the world through woman, the same sin was defeated by the submissive cooperation of a woman ( Mary the Mother of God). Thus mother God becomes the role model for all the woman in obeying God's will. In addition, woman of today follow the model of Mary to guide their family in faith. There is no match in the world for a praying mother's heart, praying wife's heart, praying sister's heart, praying daughter's heart, praying friend's heart, and praying grandmother's heart. All were present at the same time in same place brought a holy weekend with angelic visitation and a fore taste of heaven in Memphis.
