Jesus words on the Cross: Father forgive them for they know not what they do
There is no magic fix for the hurts that demand forgiveness and the sufferings which come from it not instantly removable, sometimes it linger like a chronic disease. Hurts and sufferings may present themselves in many ways, many shapes, many dimensions, and multifaceted. Some of the hurts and sufferings in this life are invited and inflicted upon oneself by one's own decisions and actions and some are uninvited which come from the environment of one's life, others may come from spiritual warfare, and others may come from divine plan as well. Some are internal and some are external. Some are forgettable with no effort and some are not. Most of the times it involves the human relationships and majority of the times the hurts which affect us the most are afflicted by those who we love and care, which require greater forgiveness in day today basis. Where there is love there is hurt. For some reason love and hurt are inseparable The more the love the greater the forgiveness required to defend and cherish the love and relationships. There are many afflictions that could hurt a person from self reasons, situation reasons, environmental reasons, and external reasons, which encompasses the internal and external reasons of one's suffering.
Small or big,the afflictions of betrayals, rejections, passions, disappointments, of any kind, reasonable and unreasonable expectations could lead any one into the strain-ful and stressful relationships, for which human love has no answer or the solutions in the demands of undue sacrifices and compromises beyond its limits sometimes. Human love is magic, magnificent majestic, dynamic, and productive, which is a reflection of God's image in us in it's nature Human love is capable of greater sacrifices and strides of forgiveness within the limits of expectations. However, when things go beyond or contrary to one's capability of expectations, in our fallen nature, the human love has limits to forgive. In such situations, it is my understanding that human love combined with divine love could overcome the struggles with the weapon of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not a easy task and it is easier said than done. It is my understanding that the Forgiveness is not an instant action but it is a process. A process that involves many stages including knowledge, understanding, discerning, decision of love, and proclamation of divine love and fellowship. A process that requires human surrender and divine intervention. A process that is guided by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Mother Church in this earthly life. A process that returns the person of forgiveness to the feet of the Cross. A process that brings peace, joy, fellowship, and prosperity at the end.
It is my understanding that in this world as much as there is joy and happiness there is also sufferings and pains, which are common to all. No one is exempted to the above status. However, there is difference in the ways a person approach or encounter the pains and sufferings inflicted by oneself and by others. There are many people in the world who do not care for God's presence and there are many who care for God's presence. From both sides of the tenet, people approach the sufferings differently. One who acknowledges God in the suffering, approaches the suffering with the presence of God. Whereas, one who has no belief in GOD, approaches the suffering alone in the human will and ability, which is limited. While I believe the outcome resides in God's mercy and will for both choices, the process of undergoing the suffering is little different in God's presence. This process does not eliminate the suffering but equip oneself to face the suffering with peace. This process does not reduce the suffering but it provides hope and meaning to the life through the suffering. This process does not guarantee miracles all the time, although some time God choose to do so, other times it transforms the individual and take the individual to the higher level of faith, with the revelation and hope of divine faithfulness along the journey of difficult times. This process does not seek justice rather seeks mercy. This process does not seek vengeance but forgiveness. This process is not driven by passion but by compassion that comes from the presence of God. This process trains the soul to pray saying, " Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
