Family is a disciple of Jesus Christ: The Presentation Mystery

Family is a disciple of Jesus Christ and Holy Trinity in this world. In discipleship role, the family participates in God's mission of creation and becomes the co-creator through procreation and sharing the gifts of the love, faith, life, and womb. Children are fruits of love and gifts from God. In presentation mystery, we reflect upon the offering of baby Jesus in the temple by the Holy Family.

 Presentation mystery highlights the love and faith of the Holy Family, which is the role model for all the family's disciple role. Families bring their gifts to the altar through their lives, love, faith, and children. Presentation function of discipleship life applies to both biological and foster families.  Presentation is the hallmark function of the discipleship life of a Christian family.  Christian families receive their gifts in union with the Holy Trinity and reflect the fruits in their life, which results in the presentation of the gospel and good news to the world. This function is the holy responsibility of Christian families.


The presentation mystery signifies thanksgiving and holy obedience of the Holy family for the gift of faith, gifts, fruits, and love. Families live, breath, and thrive in love and in presentation of the fruits of love at the altar in thanksgiving. The presentation mystery signifies the faith of the Holy family. Families may live by love, dedication, devotion, responsibility, commitment, and faithfulness, which are the qualities of all human families. However, Christian families are called to live by an extraordinary call of faith.  Love may wear out, the dedication may go without meaning, the devotion may diminish, commitment may loose its purpose, and faithfulness may faint, but the faith may not fail in any circumstances within the family life, if the family is built upon faith.  The presentation mystery denotes the faith of the holy family and faith is the constant and steady foundation of family's discipleship role.  The family, which is built upon faith will survive in all the weaknesses and inadequacies and it may produce fruits as per the will of God in all seasons. The life of the family that which is founded upon faith becomes the witness to the gospel, which denotes the presentation mystery of joy.
