Family Is a disciple: Visitation

As I have visualized the visitation as an interaction and collaboration between the Holy Church and the secular families, I reflect upon the gift of Mother of God carrying the word of God to the world. I visualize the Holy Catholic Church represents the role of the Mother of God in salvation, redemption, and restoration, as she carried the good news in collaboration with the Holy Spirit. The Mother Church carries the word of God (Good news) to the world through the collaboration with the Holy Spirit and her children in this world.

In visitation, I see two different gifts being shared with joy by two different families who share one call but in different perspectives. While Mother of God shared her gift as carrying the savior, Elizabeth shared her gift of joy and her gifts, which represented the gifts of the secular families' discipleship life. Secular families are endowed with abundant gifts, which include all that the world can offer, all that the humanity can offer, all that the nature can offer, all that relations can offer, and all that the earth and sky and universe can offer. The blessings of the family are in multitudes and in abundance in God's plan and in His will. Being fruitful and ability to multiply the fruits and generations are some of the natural gifts of the families ordained by God Himself. In addition, in the families, who have decided to follow Jesus, the spiritual and spiritual blessings are abundant. Above all, individual family has the ability to influence the heart and passion of the heavenly Father. It is for the family, Father God created the world and the universe and it is to the family, He entrusted the world. Family is the source of Heavenly Father's hand works, His miracles, from where and through which He ministers and blesses the world in the natural realm. I think that is the reason we call family as the little Church and it is the basic unit of any community and society.

Family's discipleship life role begins with receiving the Church and the Church teachings into their hearts and follow them in day to day life into the world, as Elizabeth received the Mother of God. When I think of this concept or idea, I question the current status of the families. I question within me asking, how many of us are charitable to appreciate the goodness of the Church? How many of us support and appreciate the ministers of the Church? How many of us share our  gifts with the Church? How many of us invite the Priests, Nuns, and religious into our homes and consider that as a blessing? How many of us are charitable to priests, nuns, and religious in our thoughts, deeds, and in words? How many of us are free from critiquing the Apostolic priesthood? How many of us would defend the church courageously? How many of us would acknowledge and associate our Church's identity in the secular world?  Plenty of such and more questions come to my mind, as I reflect upon this.

One of the discipleship functions of the family is receiving the Church and reflecting it to the world as a mirror would reflect the light. Another function of the family is to support the Church with charitable heart, mind, and soul, through their thoughts, words, and deeds. The next function of the family is to share the gifts with the Church and its mission in the world through their giving and participation.
