Divine Mercy: Resurrected Lord's Miracles: Here and now

1 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy[a] came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” Mathew 8

when I reflect upon divine mercy, I ponder upon the miracles of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which he performed during His earthly life as human. The mercy of God was exhibited in all the miracles and His divine charism transcended through His human compassion of kindness. If we examine all the miracles, we will come to know they are the testimonies of mercy of Son of God,in Him, through Him, with Him, the Holy Trinity Divine Mercy touched the human life. Where ever He went He brought healing, deliverance, and peace to the people. He feed the hungry, healed the sick, raised the dead, delivered the bonded, and brought the Father's forgiveness good news to the human, which were the missions sprang from the Divine Mercy, which He continues in us through us and with us to the world. Where ever there is compassion, there is a witness to Heavenly Father's mercy.

Let us examine the above miracle. In the above miracle Jesus heals a man with leprosy. In those days, when some one is affected by this dreadful disease they are out casted from the human dwellings and associations. Out casted from the human associations is a horrible punishment of society as result of a pathogen caused disease, which had no cure in that time. Isolation, segregation, looking down on people, back slandering on friends and strangers, back stabbing, tarnishing someones name and reputations are some of the social sins we commit, which are equal to those days social punishment to the people with leprosy.Let us refrain from them and let us have no part with social injustices.

Human judgement are not God's judgements. Human understandings are not God's understandings. God who knows all the intentions and will of hearts pours out his mercy with no regard to human status, human limits, and human understandings.
He says to the souls my grace is sufficient for me. Yesterday my husband and I were discussing on the miracles of Jesus. When he was narrating St. Paul's prayer to remove the constant pain he had, God said, "My grace is sufficient for you". I love the way my husband talked about it in a colloquial Tamil, which made me to think.
There are many times we receive miracles we receive we do not realize, they occur as God's Merciful plan and according to His grace in His time. In fact, the miracles are everyday event in our life if we open our eyes to them, we can see them vividly. Goodness, mercy, good will, and the exhibitions of Holy Spirits gifts are limitless in us and around us if we wish to open our mind, heart, and arms to them.

Jesus said, Ask you shall receive, there are many blessings we miss lack of asking. Prayer is an official channel of asking. Do we pray everyday? If not we lack in asking. While miracles are everyday event, there are some miracles given after we ask and pray, and there are plenty of miracles happen every day without even we ask for it or even aware of it. Jesus, when He walked the earth, He performed many miracles, some of them were performed as the result of request from affected person or people, other miracles were performed at the request of family and friends, example would be Jesus healing the Roman Officer's servant, Some other miracles Jesus performed moved with compassion: Example: Jesus feeding the people, another Example would be Jesus raising the widows dead son with compassion, which came from Jesus merciful heart. What ever may be background or situation in all the miracles there was visible , Jesus Mercy, which is mercy of Heavenly Father. Mercy brings miracles of healing, deliverance, hope, and peace.

In the above miracle, the man with the leprosy came to Jesus and pleaded to Jesus to heal Him. He said,“Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” In this prayer, we do not see a desperation but faith in God. In this prayer we can witness the man's trust in God's will and power. By this prayer he surrender his condition to the mercy of God. This kind of prayer never fails. Asking for the will of God in all our prayers is a good old catholic tradition. My father is a great believer in God's will. I have seen him reminding mother all the time about God's will, when we were growing up. He always prays for God's will. My mother was not very comfortable at those prayers, as she is an action oriented person. She believes in the specificity of prayers and actions. Where as my father belief is prayers will bring results more than actions. I was not comfortable with my father's stand when I was young, but I have grown to believe after many achievements of actions in my own world, my father's philosophy does work, my mother also has changed her view of prayers. Prayer is the precursor of miracle.

Answer to the prayers have many folds and multifaceted in the mercy of God. Some times prayers are answered visibly in a tangible manner and some times prayers are answered invisibly, depending upon the souls need. We cannot deny the power of prayer just because sometimes we are not able to visibly see the answers, just because some answers relies upon change of physical world, and other answers relies on changes in the hearts and inner minds and invisible realm of the world, depending upon the nature of the problem, which only God knows, no human mind can analyze the needful background of a single human being or no human services can fulfil a single human needs of life, with all the world's good will put together. Only God can fulfil and provide for human soul and human needs, some times He uses human services to answer prayers, other times He uses nature to answer to the prayers, there are many times He uses Angels to serve the human, few times He himself intervenes personally.

Jesus was moved by the pitiable status of the leprosy man. He saw the faith in his prayer which opened the compassion of Jesus. Then the miracle was inevitable as recorded in the Bible, " 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Let us ask for mercy of God, which is the salvation came through Jesus the atonement of our sins and world sins, as a holy offering to Eternal Father. Let us root our self in prayers which turns the mind , heart, and soul towards Heavenly Father's mercy.Let us experience the miracles in our daily life,as the presence of Jesus is eternally present in the world in through the Mother Church, Let us get back to church, let us bend our knees, let us pray for mercy of God, let us raise our hands in prayers of Divine mercy. Let us experience resurrected Lord's presence everyday in our homes, streets, neighbors, work places and in community, here and now.

Mother Church services are constant reminder of resurrected Lord's presence among us. His divine mercy is seated at the heart of Mother Church's very presence in the world. In the form of sacraments, tradition, and word,Mother Church brings people near to God's merciful heart. If any one us who reads this blog, who have been away from the church for while or long time, please consider getting back to mother Church, who is a visible presence of Christ in the world. Church has the resurrected Lord's presence. Unite yourself to the fountain of Divine mercy. Results will follow from God. Let us pray for the souls conversions of our time.

As I recollect on Easter messages I see the resurrected Lord's presence in the midst of church presence. My husband had me on cell phone while he attended the Easter service in India in our home parish, this way we make sure we attend the Easter service together as family. I feel very comforted when I attend the service thorough cell phone because the cell phone is placed in his shirt packet, which is just near to my husband's heart, the heart which I love immensely, the heart which has one mission which is to serve the family. As I was hearing the Easter homily from the celebrant priest on the pulpit, he empahsied the presence of Resurrected Lord in the Church and in the family. It was heart moving when the priest explained about how the gathering of people in the church brings meaning to his vocation, whenever he comes to celebrate mass. He also explained how important the church role is in family life and sacraments.

When I reflect upon the sacraments, the Chrism Mass comes to my understanding. In the Chrism mass 2012, at Memphis, Most. Rev. Bishop Steib, proclaimed in his eminent, eloquent, poetic, and majestic homily, the services of church through priesthood. Descriptions of this Holy Chrism Mass, the only such mass I have attended in my entire life of 49 years opened my eyes to the mysteries of the presence of resurrected Lord in the mother Church, which I will be writing in great detail in the book, " I will be with you always"

In my parish at OLPH church,Memphis, Monsignor's Easter message on Easter Sunday emphasized the importance of applying Easter message to the here and now world in our times. He message highlighted the importance of every day life with the application of resurrection message. He said, Easter celebration is not just the tradition, not just the remembrance of Salvation but also it has natural and physical meaning to our here and now world. This powerful message triggered my contemplative thoughts. This profound message theme he introduced on the first Sunday of the lent as he invited us to reflect and recollect the passions of the Lord and to have a personal time with our Lord for this lent season. He then sequentially emphasized the theme of prayers penance in the following weeks, on the day of resurrection he concluded with an invitation to consider to have the Easter celebration's impactful meaning on our real world now. This an example of how mother church reminds us constantly through her priests and Bishops to guide the people, which is a gift of Divine mercy of the resurrected Lord here and now for our times.
