Mother Angelica: A model of faith for our times
We who live now are given more than any centuries ahead of us. We are also accountable and will be asked for more fruits from our lives, as we are blessed by many holy saints during our life time. If I may summarize the life model of three great holy saints lived among us in our time, they were defenders of faith, church, and life. I also believe God places holy people in times of history preceding or during the times's needs, which we have no knowledge of. Mother Angelica's model of contemplation and prayer based faith model is the medicine for current and future humanism and terrorism infested world.
St. Pope John Paul II who was the fearless leader, defender of faith, and family, who showed us the model for defending human dignity, freedom, faith, virtues, love, and hope in the world. His model of faith encompasses divine mystical lead, heavenly providence, courageous human charity actions moved by God. His life and services were defending model of Jesus's two great commandments.
Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who saw Jesus in suffering human, which is another great model of faith. Her services collectively portrayed the testament to the second greatest command from Jesus, which is known as" Love your neighbors as you love yourself." We are now seeing epic proportion of homeless people all over the world, displaced families, fleeing multitudes of families due to war, terrorism, and famine. Application of Mother Teresa's faith model is needed now and in future to preserve humanity, human dignity, and life.
Mother Angelica, is another holy religious lived among us, who was captivated by the awesomeness, glory, and majesty of God. Her services were focused on magnifying God's glory, proclaiming His words, adoring His majesty, serving to spread the good news, as all the apostles were commanded by Jesus at His ascension. She also equally loved the majesty, sanctity, and the reverence of mother Church, which her bridegroom Jesus Christ new creation. She lived as a defender of the Holy Church and faith. Mother Angelica life and services reflect a great model of faith, which is predominantly founded upon the first great commandment known as love your God with your heart and soul. Giving God the first place in the life, adoring and contemplating His majesty, and proclaiming His good news were the major tenets of Mother Angelica's life.
The above extraordinary holy people lived in our times and showed us the witness of Gospel life. We are more accountable for what we have witnessed and given by divine providence. Mother Angelica's life is a strong statement for fervent faith, which can serve as a medicine for combating the illness of lukewarm halfheartedness in faith, double tongue standards or no standards for moral values or faith, or compromised status of faith. Mother Angelica was a fervent and feisty defender of faith and church. Her contemplative model of faith which relied upon the divine providence is a welcome revolution, which is needed highly among us now and the years to come. We as the church and our history is about to face a repeated cycle as it was in the early Christian time, when the Christians embraced martyrdom. At that time, many holy people set out to the wilderness to begin monasteries. We can witness our church almost took refuge within the desert monasteries during persecution time, where the faith, salt, and lights were preserved as holy people took contemplative life and wrote the faith guidelines for us to live. Church tradition, majestrium, dogma, and doctrines began to evolve from the martyrdom, lived faith of laity and religious, church history and growth etc...
My point is we are not away from the early christian era in our times. Persecutions have become daily news. We are witnessing more and more world and world conformed ideology, humanism glorified procedures and protocols attack Church and its glory, purpose,tradition, magestrium, doctrines, and dogma. The attacks are targeted towards attacking the glory, majesty, moral authority, the sanctity of and the very existence of the Mother Church. However, Church is not a human invention but the new garden of Eden, new heaven, which is the new creation of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No enemy can prevail over it.
If we analyze the history, we can see vividly saints were placed in times to witness for the time they lived and to the times there after. Our time now is infested by fear, terror, and empty promises of humanism. These tenets have consequences in future, which we are already beginning to see now all over the world. The church and Christians are persecuted in many levels physically, socially, economically everywhere, which are penetrating to the very soul of faith all over the world at all levels. In this trying times we are not left alone but we are given a strong heroic model of faith among us. Our Mother Angelica's life shows the model of faith for our time and for the times to come, which may help to preserve the faith by Glorifying God, giving God the first place in everything, contemplation, prayers, and penance.
We have messed up the world, beyond our ability to clean. Let God do the work and let us turn towards God in surrender. Let our faith shine in spreading the Gospel.
