Mercy: Receiving Mercy to reflect mercy

The source of mercy is heavenly Father. By asking for mercy we receive mercy. All of us live by the mercy of God everyday. The very breath we take, every heart beat by we live, every day of our life come from the mercy of God. No one is exempted from the mercy of God. Irrespective of race, ethnicity, beliefs, values, or any designation we may assign for human, no one is above the law of mercy of God. No one could live without His mercy. The mercy of God surpasses all understandings, ideologies, creed, and any dispositions of human and nature in surrounding the creation.

Mercy of God is like air all around us all the time. However, one lives by taking oxygen from the air by the action of breathing. Similar ideology can be applied to the human effort in seeking God for His mercy. Although oxygen is present all the time everywhere on earth, human action of breathing makes it possible to use the oxygen for life. Prayer can be equated to the action of breathing. Like while breathing the oxygen enters into the body, the omnipresent mercy of God becomes activated to give life for oneself and others by human will and obedience to the call of God, as per His omnipotent everlasting will and plan.

Mercy is a quality or a virtue which brings forth goodness to oneself and to others. Being merciful is a call of action of Christian life. Being merciful is an action of giving mercy to others. One can only give something when that person has plenty of that which is to be given or shared. To have mercy it has to be received from God. Mercy has to be replenished every day by the presence of God in one's life. Living in the presence of God, in the conscience of God, in the mind of the Holy Spirit, in the atonement of Christ, one's life may reflect the mercy of God in a overflowing manner.

Receiving mercy daily is as important as showing mercy in one's life.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever. Psalm 23/6

You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
    abounding in love to all who call to you.
Hear my prayer, Lord;
    listen to my cry for mercy.
When I am in distress, I call to you,
    because you answer me. Psalm 86/5

Psalm 136:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
