Come after me: Family as a disciple of Jesus; Nativity mystery
Families are called to live a discipleship life. Family is the first secular priesthood ordained by heavenly Father in Garden of Eden. Family role has inherited the natural role of discipleship to Holy Trinity from the beginning of its origin. Disciple life is to follow Jesus. Disciple is not alone. Disciple is always associated with his master or leader or guru. In the same way, disciple represents his believes and the ideologies and believes what he has learned. Disciple is some body who devoted represent his master and who is a student to a teacher. The ministry of the disciple reflects the master not the self. Individual uses his charisma and talents to spread the good news, but the outcome is spreading the message of God not self agenda. In discipleship life the disciple get the new identity. He transforms from the natural status to the purposeful divine status, while witnessing good news.
Disciple may be viewed as an ambassador of a country. The ambassador represents the country they come from. They are the identity of their country in the foreign lands they serve. In ambassador role an individual represents the collective identity of his country, which is a transformed role. In the same way, the family as a disciple undergo transformation stages and status under the guidance of Holy Spirit in Holy matrimony. The first miracle indicates the transformation of water into the wine in the hands of Jesus. In the same way, every family, in holy matrimony, transforms in the hands of Jesus. This holy transformation is not just the choice but also the holy necessity for the discipleship witness of the family, which demands God's presence within the family.
Man and woman natural union as one body is not just enough to fulfill the secular demands of the world. Such union without God's presence will struggle in the face of testings, temptations, and sufferings of the world. They need God's presence among them to guide them and unite them. In holy matrimony, man, woman, and Holy Trinity are united as one body, mind, spirit, soul, and one system. The family which abides in the shelter of holy Trinity is like a house, which is built upon a rock, which might stand steady in the face of troubles and struggles. Every family needs the transformation experiences of Jesus first miracle.
