Discernment is the level of faith which moves further beyond the experiences of Heavenly sweetness

Discerning is an action, which moves beyond the experiences. Experience of God's presence is a comfortable level of faith. Whereas discerning God's plan and purpose takes a life that follows His foot steps as he called the apostles to follow Him. Life of following Jesus Christ is the level of faith that courageously follow Him in all the situations of life. Whoever made choice to follow Jesus Christ has only one way of life that the life in which one carries one's own cross every day and follow Him. Another aspect of this faith life is that there is no turning back in this track. The faith grows day by day and get strengthened by all the happenings in the life. The soul moves beyond the emotional experience( Heavenly sweetness) comes from God's presence and exercises the faith even without the heavenly sweetness experiences, which is called as a desert experiences by many saints. It is a weaning stage which is like a journey in a toiling boat. Toils and struggles indica...

Discernment in conquering: Confession is a divine shield

Confession is a humble sacrament but very powerful sacrament in relation to spiritual warfare. Forgiveness is the first step of confession, which include forgiving oneself and others. Seeking forgiveness through confession is an act of purifying soul.Confession is a sacred gift of Holy Catholic church, which has power to deliver souls from the struggles and trials.

Discerment in conquering: When the answer is no?

Some times after fervent prayers the answer may be a "no." When the answer is no which means God is in control of the situation and He has better plan than our proposed prayers and plans.Continued prayers will during this time will be a testimony of faith. A soul which can pray during such a time has a power to withstand trials and temptations. The enemy is afraid of such soul. "Be still and know that I am God."

Psalm of the week Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. I found comfort in the above psalm in midst of last week events. I thank God for His word and presence of comfort in this world.

Discerning God's will in conquering trials

Some useful cues: Do we face delay or interruptions when we pray fervently for some matter, then we can know that there is a blessing on the way and it has a power to change us and to bring glory to God.Daniel underwent period of delay in his prayer when God had answered his prayers right away yet the answer was delayed on the way due to principalities causing heavenly postal delay. Arc Angel Michael had to intervene in the delivery of the answer to Daniel after 21 days. Interesting event recorded in the bible. The testing lies behind in our response to delay. Daniel continued to pray waiting for answer. The remedy is same for us too. Continual prayer is the way to conquer the trial. Preview for my blog friends as I write: "Keep watch with me"

Redemptive presence: The Church

Church is the body of Christ and the heavenly bride. Church is the new garden of Eden. She was instituted by the holy Trinity through Creation, redemption, and recreation ( New life new breath in Holy Spirit). The church's presence in the world is the natural presence of Holy Trinity in this natural world. Jesus Christ promised His presence in the world in His statement to the Apostle, " I will be with you always" as He ascended into heaven. He also promised the advocate who would guide the recreated world through His everlasting eternal life, who is Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit instituted His re creative presence among human after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as humanity and the world received the salvation and re instituted to the Children status to the Heavenly Father at Jesus death and resurrection, which was the original status of human before the sin. Now the human sin has been redeemed through the incarnation death and resurrection of Son of God in the human f...

Redemptive Body of Christ

I admire and respect the men and women who have decided to follow Jesus in this life as the redemptive body of Christ. They have dedicated their worldly life and all that can offer to them at the Crucifix feet and bravely live this earthly life winning the flesh ever day for the redemptive love of God. In their decision the love of God is portrayed to the natural world as a constant selfless presence. It is not a easy call or vocation, or task or life. Imagine wading against the mighty waves and the sucking currents of waters. The called apostle body of Christ lives the similar life in this world. Call is from heaven the decision to follow the call is their choice and discernment. However, the call has to be lived everyday in the world and in the worldly flesh, which are the antagonist forces of the call, which is equal to swimming in a constant current.Living their life demands divine grace, mercy, and constant awareness of God's presence, and constant decisions of nonconforming to...

Group Reflection on Gospel Readings Luke 2/14; “Glory to God in the highest heaven and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!” John 8/12; Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. “ I am the light of the world,” he said “ whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness” Mathew 5/14-16 “You are like light for whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it on the lamp stand, where it gives light for every one in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your father in heaven” Luke 11/ 35 “ Make certain then that the light in you is not darkness. If your whole body is full of light with no part of it in darkness it will be bright all over as when a lamp shines on you with its brightness.” Group Reflections Reflect upon the above verses individually or as a group in the following perspectives: 1. Discuss the ways these verses apply to yo...

Southern border of Periyasamypuram is adorned by the majestic Sea of Mannar, a beautiful, breath taking, agile active clean sea shore makes a refreshing beach, which is used by youth and children. No boats and no fishermen in the beach, except the village adults may cast their nets occasionally with their friends in the evenings as my father used to do with his friends, as their hobby of sport some days. Deep blue colored water mass alive waves of seven to 8 foot tall waves on ordinary days, on full moon and new moon days the waves of high tides are very common. The rhythmic songs of sea waves and the stroke of sea breeze are the natural gifts of this village. There is a tradition during the time of Christmas that youth of this village conducts sports on the seashore with the leadership of parish priest. There is a new small chapel built within last few years by the villagers called St. Anthony chapel near the seashore where there are few masses per year celebrated. We can hear the chur...

Peace be with you: Peace is an honor in relations and work; Where there is darkness, light

Image
Peace is an honor in relations and work God's presence brings honor to humanity. Where ever human life is protected, fostered, and promoted there is God's presence. Adam the father of the entire humanity was the first human being to enjoy Father God's presence. God loved Adam and the entire a humanity very dearly, that he adorned him with freedom. He loved Adam so dearly that he created entire world and the comforts of life before creating Adam. He brought Adam in to the world as a guest to enjoy the comforts with peace. In addition, God honored Adam with the great privilege of naming His creations. He also blessed Adam with His fatherly presence. By this, we know that God treated human with honor and dignity. His presence brings honor to the humanity. Work and gift of work are God's blessings. Work or the job or the duty and responsibilities go beyond the earning of one's life means. Work is a channel of God's provision for the family and to the society. A job ...

Highlights of Irudhaya Annai Church: Periasamypuram

Image
Northern street of Periyasamypuram house the Servite convent, where 8 to 10 nun sisters reside. Sisters are very active in the spiritual matters of this village. From the altar decorations, maintenance of the church, educating children via school, catechism, house visits, training youth in cottage industries etc........ Endless avenue they open for this village. I am very surprised to see the non participatory sisters in the church in these days. Is church is not using them? I wonder what happened? They are the real salt of the church, who have fostered rich catechism in the church. I always say passionately if we do not cherish them and invite their participation and visibility in the chuch we may loose such a great gift of our Catholic church. Servite convent sisters are great in education and teaching catechism to the children. They have made a great impression in my childhood heart and all the children of periasamypuram. Nun Sisters continue to make difference in youth life throughou...

Peace be with you: Peace in the world

Image
Peace in the world Peace in the Church presence Although God is present everywhere, Seeking God’s presence in His temple brings unique blessings. There are many psalms in the Bible describe how to enter into His temple and courts. They indicate that one must worship God with joy and with happy songs. It is appropriate and fitting to see the Heavenly father in His temple. In His temple, there is peace, joy, happiness, and praises, which can quench the thirst of human heart, mind and soul. Some times one can experience physical, mental, social, and spiritual healing also in His presence. Consider going to church as going to the father’s house because our Heavenly Father’s presence is visible in the church, which consists of God’s presence in the church, shepherds, leaders, and in believers. Every year I used to spend at least few days with my father and mother who lives very far from my city. It is a common experience that my father gets very excited of my every visit and he makes my vis...

Peace be with you: Where there is despair, hope

Where there is despair, hope Gospel reading Hebrews 6/18-19; Romans 15/13; Romans 8/23-25 Reflections Hope in an individual is the hope of the world Hope is an inner strength comes from God, which helps us to believe in the happiness, goodness, peace, and deliverance beyond our capabilities, possibilities, probabilities, and situations. The inner strength quality of hope comes from the experiential life of human in relation with God’s will. In this way of life an individual, develops strength to face all the situations through God’s will where the individual set the hope in God for the solutions while praying and persevering in the day today human way of life. This way of life accept and acknowledges the divine interventions in human life by the deliberations of hope, declaration of hope from the seen trials to the unseen peace and deliverance. Hope denotes the trust in God not just for the future blessings but also entrusting God to intervene in the times of present troubles. It revea...

Peace be with you: Where there is doubt, faith

Where there is doubt, faith Peace is the divine intervention; Discerning peace through trust in God in family life Gospel Readings Mathew 8/23-27 Mark 4/35-41 Luke 8/22-25 Reflections Jesus calls “Let Us Go” The gospel readings reflect the miracle of Jesus where he calms the deadly storm in the lake during the travel with his disciples. Let us reflect upon the lake and the boat. It was evening when there was gentle breeze on the lake. Evening Sunrays spread golden mantle on the lake. Sky was filled with running clouds and chattering birds returning to nests. Day fishermen retuning to the shore and the night fishermen getting ready to launch their boat that made the lakeshore very busy. Along the lakeside, the businesspersons’ bargains echoed among the crowd of nearby fish market. The massive water body in the lake remained quiet as usual. There came Jesus and His disciples near the lake. Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” Let us ponder on J...
