Celebrate Priesthood: Redemptive Body of Christ

Priesthood call is supernatural, which is beyond the natural call of life. The sacrifices they make, when they say Amen to the call of Christ, they lay down their humanly possible life and all that world can offer to them through this earthly life, at the crucified Lord's feet and they begin to carry the cross of the world with Jesus Christ, in another word, they partake in salvation with Jesus Christ, through their sanctified life. They live their call day by day in collaboration and cooperation with Holy Spirit and the Holy Church.

Living in this world just as a natural human is becoming very hard these day and how much more difficulty it must be for these holy men, as they have to encounter multiples ordeals of flesh and world and overcome them, to portray the heavenly call of life, while they are living in flesh in the world. Their call of life is like swimming against tide, flying against the wind, as they are the model of suffering Christ on earth. Another, bigger picture of spiritual warfare is associated with their call of life. As they offer Holy Sacrifice every day for the welfare of the faithful and world, they undergo multiple spiritual warfare day by day minute by minute, knowingly or unknowingly. In this way they are constantly tested in the walk of life. They are anointed by the Holy Spirit and they are used by the Holy Spirit according to God' will to serve the redemptive mission in the world. They are Christ bearers and they are Virgin Mary's sons by their call and apostolic tradition. They are earthly messengers of heavenly life and they are redemptive body of Christ. They reflect the symbol of heaven on earth. They are friends of Holy Spirit as they live a supernatural life in the natural world.

It is written in the Holy Bible that all the sins on earth may be forgiven by God but not the sins against the Holy Spirit. I think, hurting the name, feelings, reputations or life of priesthood by any ways or means may be considered as sin against Holy Spirit. One should aware of this perspective before thinking to criticize the anointed priesthood. Let us remember, one who called them is faithful to His call, He is capable of preserving them in His faithfulness and for His name sake. Let us be thankful for priesthood and for the gift of  the priests, through whom we receive our blessings everyday. The more we appreciate them, we will be blessed more.

Their love for humanity is great that brings mercy of God to the world. Their forgiving heart is huge that yields to bring the forgiveness and reconciliation. Their humility has power to melt the mountains. Their intercession is highly powerful that goes beyond the services to Catholic Church. Their hard work is unspoken, unnoticed and many times underrated, as they serve at the altar and in the community throughout the week and they wait on their faithfuls during the weekends. By any measure, only by the gifts and anointing  of the Holy Spirit any human can live as they live as the suffering body of Christ and  supernatural redemptive body of Christ.

Many priesthood heroes have demonstrated supernatural powers in their life in a demonstrative way. Example, St. Antony demonstrated many miracles, while he was serving as a priest. St. Padre Pio demonstrated many miracles through conversion of souls. Many martyrs priests have died by subjecting themselves to the fury of kings and powers  just to shelter or saving their faithful. Multitudes of priests have given their life for faith by sword, fire, ropes, and law. Many have given their life for preserving the Holy Mass and Eucharist. Some of them have died in protecting and advocating human rights. While multitudes of priesthood saints stand out as heroes, I would think and celebrate every priest as a silent hero, saint, miracle worker, and friend of Holy Spirit, as they celebrate Eucharist every day. There is nothing equal to the peace and healing miracle that comes by the ministry of one of these supernatural holy men through a single confession. Every confession they hear and every Holy Mass they conduct bring millions of miracles seen and unseen, visible and invisible, to the individuals, families, communities, world, and to the universe. Let us celebrate them, support them, and pray for them.
