Eternal Peace in the earthly life

In human life, an individual spends most of his/her life in searching for basic needs. Basic needs include physical, mental, social, ego achievement, and environmental needs. The basic and universal nature of human need is an unending trail. There is no human need that could be achieved once for all or it could be contained forever. There is no need that could be satisfied to the optimum level that it would never return. Every need has a drive and motive that initiates and control human behaviors. Depending upon the situation and nature of urgency, the needs take priority in human life.
Every man makes decisions in life considering these basic details in hierarchy. In the hierarchy of needs, one who has achieved lower levels of needs move to the higher levels and move from bottom to the top or top to the bottom, or oscillates in between constantly. Needs exist with human life, which is the necessity for the human actions and being. Due to the nature of ever existing needs in the life, there is no limit to the achievements, opportunities, accomplishments, trials, and temptations in human life. All the above-mentioned needs are associated with human physical realm of life, which make the human to move and become agile or restless.
While considerable amount of drives and motivations are helpful for the life in the physical world, finding peace in the journey of physical realm is an imperative experience for the followers of Christ. This concept has been well defined and depicted beyond any articulation in the life of St. Francis of Assisi. The way to achieve the peace in the life is to live a gospel way life by realizing the Franciscan call for the life, a life that journeys from Gospel to Life and from the life to Gospel.

Understanding the significance of life in the world into its perspectives will help shine the peace in the life. Human life has many aspects. Among them, the human life on earth is just a beginning of the eternal journey and it is short lived. However, it plays major part in the proclaiming the Gospel way of life. Human life on earth is limited to time, seasons, life, and relations. However, it begins the eternal journey towards heavenly Father’s house. On the way of this journey, every human being undergoes birth, life, death, and resurrection. It is at the resurrection, the human life accomplishes its journey. Although life on earth is between birth and death and it is limited to the mortality, it is a powerful means of extending Father’s kingdom on earth. A purpose-filled life not only accomplishes well-lived life but also guides many souls towards eternity. Therefore letting and extending God’s presence work through us to the world could be the best purpose of this life. Peace follows God’s presence because the peace is a gift of Holy Spirit, Son of God’s promise, and the sign of Father’s presence.

Human life is also driven by another dimensional motive, which is known as Soul’s needs. An eternal peace can be realized in earthly life by satisfying the soul’s need. Men and women who are called as saints in our church have lived a life that demonstrated this kind of peace by focusing on soul’s way of life. Soul is the seat of wisdom in human being, seat and throne of God, a moral advocate for every human being, dwells within every human being as the image of Holy Trinity. Soul also has needs and drives that could direct human heart and mind. Body and bodily needs and drives are limited in time by the mortal nature of human life; whereas, soul has needs and drives, which exist for eternity. While physical life needs are temporary, complexed, and multifaceted in characteristics, soul's need and drive is only one, which is God's presence. Soul has the affinity for God's presence and only for God's presence. Body, mind, and spirit in various proportions direct human life. Some lives are directed by the physical drives and needs, which is the flesh way of life. Some other lives are focused on mind driven life, which is the ego way of life and few others’ lives are directed by the soul, which is the Spirit way of life.
Human behaviors and preferences, and decisions depend upon the dominance of the above-mentioned preferential dimensions of focus. Among the three different dimensions of human life, soul (Spirit) has the satisfiable status, because it seeks only God's presence at all the time. In addition, it cannot be satisfied by anything other than God in this world and in the life yet to come. Soul is the image of God and the life and breath of God installed in every human in creation. Choosing God’s presence in the soul will bring peace to one's life.
